Sarah L. Meadows, MSW
Sarah L. Meadows is a co-founder of SWS and the Challenge Adventures program and joined the firm full-time in 2000 after retiring from the University of South Carolina Center for Children and Family Studies. Ms. Meadows began her career as a certified classroom teacher, then moved into directing the development of human services education programs for minority students after receiving her MSW. This work gave her a great deal of experience in program implementation. She then was named as a treatment consultant for the state. She took this expertise with her when she replaced Mr. Appenzeller as director of quality assurance at the South Carolina state alcohol and drug abuse agency. She instituted a performance based system which supported service providers in continuous quality improvement, provided the basis for training and education efforts, and provided the basis for manualization of the different services provided. Ms. Meadows is licensed as an independent social worker in advanced practice (LISW-AP). She has worked with the Challenge Adventures program since 1989.
When Ms. Meadows moved to the University of SC, she used the approach of first identifying best practices, establishing performance standards, manualzing the standards, then training the personnel for her work as director of training for children’s service workers in the state. Since she joined SWS, Ms Meadows has used this expertise and experience to oversee the implementation and fidelity to design aspects of education based evaluations conducted by SWS. She has designed and often delivered dozens of training offerings.
